Why does my dashboard reset to $0 each financial year?

Yes — this is intentional. Your Lodg dashboard shows totals for the current financial year only. When the New Zealand tax year ticks over (1 April), those numbers reset to $0 and start counting again.

Why we do it this way

Sole trader tax in New Zealand runs on the 1 April to 31 March financial year. The figures Lodg shows you — "tax paid for you" and "income earned" — are the running totals for the current year, so you always know where you stand right now.

How to see prior years

Your previous year's totals haven't disappeared — they've moved to your tax history. To see them:

1. Open Lodg and go to your dashboard.

2. Go to Income tax

3. Select the year you want to see.

Will my tax already paid carry over?

Tax payments you've made for last year stay attached to last year's return. We use them to reconcile your final position with IRD. They don't affect your new year's running total — that starts fresh, as it should.
